Have you ever wondered how long it takes to develop a mining project and the sequence of activities that management has undertaken? Some say it takes 18 years to develop a project, but is that true?
The Project Timeline Viewer App is a collaborative online platform where anyone can view selected mining project timelines. See when exploration was undertaken or when various studies were completed.
To see the projects currently in the database, click this link (Projects Currently in the database). These are not clickable links.
The Editor App allows anyone to add new milestone events to an existing project or create a new project and add its milestone events. Anyone can track the progress of their favorite project and share it with others.
This platform was originally developed as a way for me to learn how to use Zite. It took about 3 hours to build this app using the free Zite account. Most of the time was spent fine tuning the user interface layout. Zite is amazing. Since I built this, I decided why not launch it. Its not perfect but works, and maybe over time if can become something useful.
The goal of the platform is to illustrate how different projects advance from exploration to studies to construction and finally production. If you have a project of interest, you can create it and add to the list. You just need to list out all the significant milestone, usually collected from new releases.
For each project, one can view multiple milestone events with the event date, a comment, and a weblink. The comment field can be used to provide more detail, especially if using "Other". You can also add a weblink to a specific news release or 43-101 Technical Report. The event milestone must consist of one of the following categories below.
-
Exploration
-
Mineral Resource Estimate
-
Preliminary Economic Assessment
-
Prefeasibility Study
-
Feasibility Study
-
Permitting Start
-
Permit Approval
-
Construction Start
-
Commissioning
-
Production
-
Other (could be a financing, merger, partnership, etc.)
